Who created this course?

This MOOC was developed as part of the CURIOSOIL project, which aims to strengthen soil literacy - what people know, feel, and do about soils - across Europe.

The course was created by a transdisciplinary team of researchers and educators who share a fascination for soils and education and their role in sustaining life on Earth. Experts from fields such as soil science, ecology, geography, and environmental education contributed to the course design and content.

CURIOSOIL consortium

The development of this MOOC was co-led by BOKU University and the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO), with contributions from University of AveiroWageningen University and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Filming, design, and technical implementation were supported by European Science Communication Institute gGmbH (ESCI), REVOLVE, and Gaia Education, respectively. The MOOC was reviewed by members of the CURIOSOIL consortium, bringing together expertise from multiple disciplines and countries.

The MOOC is currently being tested with university students across Europe and will continue to evolve based on feedback from learners like you.

Enjoy the Journey!

Soils connect landscapes, ecosystems, and human societies in ways that are often hidden - until we start looking more closely.

We invite you to explore, ask questions, and share your observations along the way.

Enjoy and stay curious!
